A Study in Scarlet is the first novel to introduce Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. The novel begins with Watson, a military doctor recently returned from Afghanistan, meeting the eccentric detective Holmes. The two soon become roommates at 221B Baker Street and embark on an investigation into a mysterious murder. The book is structured in two parts: the first detailing the crime and Holmes' deductive process, and the second delving into the backstory of the murderer, set in the American West. This first Sherlock Holmes story established Doyle’s legacy and introduced the world to one of the most famous literary detectives.

Very good original rich brown cloth binding with decorative gilt stamped borders and lettering on the cover and spine. Tight and intact with slightly bumped corners. Interior very clean and bright still with only soft toning due to age.
