Antique Scandinavian Immigrant's Trunk from Norway
This small trunk or chest was probably used
as a money chest or important
document holder to lock away valuables. Showing hand-wrought iron details, some loose (see photos).
Unique to this trunk is that the original painted date when it was made is still visible on the front panel. 1849. This Trunk more than likely came to Minnesota in the 1st wave of Norwegian Immigrants migrated to Minnesota Territory when it was incorporated in1849:
